To address the growing need for master's-level expertise in clinical and translational research at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, the Department of Biostatistics is pleased to introduce an innovative Sc.M. Training program for the 2010-11 academic year, with full funding for four trainees.

The curriculum will include our traditional core Sc.M. biostatisics coursework as well as targeted training in a spectrum of skills needed to accomplish translational research, as well as immersion in clinical and translational research through a mentored internship in our Biostatistics Center.

Curriculum Highlights:

• Core coursework includes theory and methods of statistics
• Elective coursework in clinical trials methodology, statistical computing, survial analysis, longitudinal data analysis, and multi-level models

Applicant Requirements:

• Admission into the Johns Hopkins Biostatistics Sc.M. program through the standard application process
• Demonstrated leadership ability; excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal, problem-solving and self management skills

Funded students will receive:

• One year of full tuition and stipend
• Salary for student employment in their second year (subject to satisfactory academic performance)
• Repayment of 75%-discounted second year tuition following completion of program requirements
