Qiushan Tao has more than ten years of training and working experience in public health. In 1990, he was admitted by Henan Medical University to study Preventive Medicine, which is now called public health in China. He finished his MS in Epidemiology at Tongji Medical University in 2000 and his PhD in Epidemiology at Peking University in  2003. He has been working at the Department of Epidemiology of Peking University since 2003. He is the recipient of a scholarship from the International Collaborative Genetic Research Training Program (ICGRTP) to study Genetic Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University.  The ICGRTP also supported his study for the MHS in bioinformatics at Johns Hopkins University.
