We examine body temperature and activity count data collected every half hour on mice and explore the possibility of assessing homeostasis through these measurements. We assume there are underlying circadian pattern curves in these measurements. We extend the approach presented in Brumback and Rice (1998) in order to estimate the circadian patterns in the presence of correlated data. We then assess homeostasis using these estimates and their statistical properties.
