Sleep Modeling and Epidemiology
Is sleep structure associated with sleep-disordered breathing, and if so how can we model the association? Visualize the association?
With primary investigator Dr. Naresh Punjabi of Johns Hopkins University and other collaborators, I have put forth several models to characterize the sleep hypnogram, analyzed changes in sleep structure associated with sleep disordered-breathing, and created a framework to better visualize populations of sleep hypnograms. Our findings support different transition-types being associated in different capacities with the severity of sleep-disordered breathing, which paves the way for future research into the pathway of sleep-disordered breathing, heart disease, and mortality.
